The New York Red Bulls had their home unbeaten streak snapped, falling to the Philadelphia Union at Red Bull Arena.
The Union scored twice early, while New York hit the woodwork four times.
"I think momentum is a keyword today," Head Coach Sandro Schwarz said. "First of all, it was not good enough in our defense behavior all together, especially in these two goals which we concede in these moments."
John Tolkin made his 100th career MLS start in tonight’s match.
Kyle Duncan made his 127th career MLS appearance which moves him past Connor Lade for sixth place in franchise history for most MLS appearances made by a defender.
"In the end, it was not good enough in our defense all together, and in our intensity, and this is what we have to improve," Schwarz said.
Felipe Carballo made his MLS debut in tonight’s match.
Serge Ngoma made his return to action after suffering a knee injury. It is his first appearance since April 6, 2024, against FC Cincinnati.
"It’s been a long road for sure but I feel blessed," Ngoma said. "I’m happy that the coach had the belief to put me in the game. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the result, but it’s great to be back, nonetheless."
Schwarz was issued a yellow card, forcing him to miss New York's next match due to yellow card accumulation.
